The Earthshot Prize will be hosted in Brazil in November 2025

Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett has praised Prince William's Earthshot Prize whilst emphasising that individuals should not feel solely responsible for tackling climate change.

The acclaimed performer highlighted the importance of collective action in addressing environmental challenges.

"Climate can feel like yet another burden to take on that no one individual can make the changes needed to turn things around," Blanchett said.

She stressed that despite this individual limitation, "collectively, we do have power."

Blanchett elaborated that "the overwhelming nature of the climate challenge can lead to despair, but we don't have time for apathy and inaction."

She acknowledged that "many people are struggling" with their own challenges.

"Small actions do add up. The way we consume does add up," she added.

The Earthshot Prize, founded by Prince William and now in its fifth year, awards £1 million annually to five inventors with solutions to help save the planet.
