The Princess of Wales has made two public appearances since she was diagnosed with cancer

Prince William was left devastated by Princess Kate's cancer diagnosis, a royal commentator has claimed.

The Princess of Wales revealed she had been diagnosed with cancer in March 2024 in a public statement.

The royal underwent significant abdominal surgery earlier this year and cancer was found to be present following medical tests after the operation.

Robert Jobson, a royal commentator, claimed Kate's cancer diagnosis "wobbled" the Prince of Wales.

Jobson told US Weekly regarding Prince William's reaction: "It was devastating for him".

The royal commentator added: "It wobbled him. There is no doubt about that."

So far in 2024, Kate has only made two public appearances, the first came on June 15 at Trooping the Colour alongside her children Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte 9 and Prince Louis, 6.

The second came almost a month later on July 14, during the men's singles final at Wimbledon, where Princess Kate was joined by her daughter Princess Charlotte and sister Pippa Matthews during the appearance on Centre Court.

In a health update, a source claimed that the public appearances are a sign that the Princess of Wales is doing well in her recovery.

The source told the Daily Beast: "Kate has been exceptionally open and honest about her health.

"Making two appearances before the summer break, at Wimbledon and Trooping the Colour, was a clear signal that she is doing well.

"That is what we are hearing privately as well—it’s not over but there is lots of optimism, lots of positivity."

They continued: "It is obviously still an incredibly worrying time but all the signs are that her cancer treatment, which is ongoing, is progressing well."

Another royal insider told the publication: "The priority for her now is going to be family and the children. The youngest of those kids, Louis, is only six.

"Like a lot of people who have a brush with mortality, Kate is going to prioritise the things that matter to her from now on. In her case, that means her kids."

Kate is set to travel to Scotland this summer to join members of the Royal Family at Balmoral.

The trip to the royal residence will be the longest she has travelled since being diagnosed with cancer, according to the Mail.
