Prince William and Princess Kate have "no room" for excessive staff at Adelaide Cottage, according to a royal commentator.

The Prince and Princess of Wales have declined to employ a butler at their Windsor home, royal biographer Robert Hardman has claimed.

The future King and Queen left Kensington Palace and moved to the four-bedroom cottage in 2022 with their three children Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six.

The author's claim was revealed in his new book, New King, New Court.

Hardman wrote: “The couple did not seek to boost the staff numbers at Adelaide Cottage, not least because there would be little room to do so.

"The Kensington Palace team does include a ‘yeoman’, a multi-tasking attendant, who looks after everything from luggage to uniforms, but there is no 'gentleman's gentleman' on the staff.

“And certainly no butler, It’s very much them at home with the kids."

Prince William has several rules that he and Princess Kate try to implement for their children.

He revealed that he and his wife encourage their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, to stay climate-conscious in their family home.

The future King said in an interview with the BBC ahead of the Earthshot Prize awards in Cape Town: “Every family tries to do what they can to sort of help with the environment.”

He added: “We go through all the basics of recycling, making sure we minimise water use, and turning off lights when we leave the house and things like that… which is sensible in what we do around the environment, and I think every family has these conversations. You just try to do what you can.”

The parents of three have also previously said they strive to teach their children kindness and empathy.

William said: "I think we could do with some more empathetic leadership around the world.

"That's what I'm trying to bring, that's what Catherine is trying to bring as well."

Adelaide Cottage made a feature during Princess Kate’s video announcement that she had completed her chemotherapy treatment for cancer.

The video posted on the Prince and Princess of Wales's social media account gave fans an intimate glimpse into their personal lives with their children.
