Hardman stated: “His staff remain adamant that he and the princess refused to open a book which has caused so much pain.”
However, the royal source said that William had the BBC app on his phone and saw updates on the book.

Royal advisors also updated the couple on “key points” from the book.
Hardman recognised that “naturally, the world wanted to hear Prince William’s thoughts on Spare.”
Prince William has never responded to any claims made by Prince Harry in his memoir or from the Netflix documentary.
But the new biography from Hardman provides a new insight into the Royal Family from exclusive contacts and sources.

The Prince of Wales was “mortified by the causal betrayal of so many fraternal secrets,” according to Hardman.
An insider close to the King told Us Weekly, shortly after the release of Spare, that he was “outraged” by what the prince wrote about his wife, Camilla.
The source said: “Charles is distraught.
“He’s angry and outraged that Harry’s aired so many embarrassing and damaging assertions, and it’s put him in a terrible position with Camilla of course now that she’s been dragged into the equation.”

The biography by Hardman also revealed information about the King almost missing the late Queen’s final moments.
The King, formerly known as the Prince of Wales, was absent from Balmoral leading up to the time of the Queen’s death and was persuaded by royal advisors to make it to the Queen’s bedside before she died on September 8 2022.
The book has also revealed that the King chose to dine without Prince Harry on the night of the Queen’s death because he needed to prepare to console Britain.
It was reported by Palace officials that the King dined instead with his eldest son Prince William to have “vital but discreet discussions.”
