The Duke of York was invited to spend time at the Balmoral royal estate

Prince William and Princess Kate were pictured alongside Prince Andrew as he joined senior members of the Royal Family in Scotland.

The Duke of York was photographed in the same car as the Prince and Princess of Wales as they travelled to church in Balmoral today.

Prince William was driving the car with Prince Andrew sat in the front passenger seat and Princess Kate sat behind him.

King Charles and Camilla were also pictured on their way to Crathie Kirk for a Sunday church service.

Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, as well as Princess Anne, are also in Balmoral today.

Prince Andrew's appearance at the event signals an olive branch from King Charles to his brother.

The Duke of York was invited to spend time at the 50,000-acre Balmoral royal estate, his first trip to the residence since Queen Elizabeth II's death in September 2022.

The late Queen died peacefully at Balmoral Castle in Scotland on September 8 2022.

The Royal Family is not holding a public event to mark the first anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's death.

Prince Andrew stepped down as a working member of the Royal Family in 2019 following a disastrous TV interview regarding his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

In 2022, Andrew paid a financial settlement to his accuser Virginia Giuffre to bring to an end a sexual assault case against him.

The out-of-court settlement accepted no liability and the Duke of York has always strongly rejected claims of wrongdoing.

It comes as Prince Andrew's fight to win back armed security worth £3m a year has been damaged by an "embarrassing" leak, according to a royal commentator.

The Duke of York has launched a bid to get his police protection back despite not being a working member of the Royal Family since 2019.

However, former Home Secretary Priti Patel was forced to apologise to the King after the email was leaked.

Patel said: "It is disappointing that this correspondence has been leaked into the public domain and I apologise to His Majesty for the embarrassment and difficulties the publishing of this correspondence has caused."

Royal commentator Ingrid Seward criticised the way Patel approached the issue of Andrew's security.

Seward told The Sun: “The King will be deeply embarrassed by this. The issue is so controversial he won’t go anywhere near it."
