Prince William will look after his wife, Kate, “hand and foot” as the princess returns home from hospital, a source has claimed.

The Princess of Wales spent 13 days in hospital following an abdominal procedure at The London Clinic leaving a “void” in the royal's family home.

According to former royal butler, Grant Harrold, the Prince of Wales will make sure that the princess is cared for and recovering before resuming royal duties.

Harrold said: “He’s a very caring, very loving kind of character and I noticed that a lot when I spent time with them both back in the day.

“I’ve no doubt that wouldn’t have changed, William will make sure Kate is cared for and that she has a quick recovery.”

Harrold, who worked for the King for seven years, also mentioned how the princess returning home is a relief for her children and can bring a sense of normality back to their home.

The ex-butler told The Post: “Like any family, it’s always wonderful when a loved one is able to come back home. I’m sure the kids are really excited to have Kate back.

“It will also be great for William, because when your partner or your loved one isn’t home, it leaves a void.

“The fact that Kate is back home, behind closed doors, it’ll mean they’re able to return to some sense of normality.”

The princess is not expected to return to work until after Easter; since the news of Kate’s health came to light, Kensington Palace informed the princess’s 30 charities that they would need to postpone engagements.

Harrold commented on how the royal couple “enjoy their working life together" commenting: “The sooner her recovery, I’m sure the sooner the pair will get back to carrying out their royal duties together, which is something that I think they enjoy."

According to the former royal butler, the couple do not have a very large household at their Windsor residence and will “be keen to get back to normal with it.”

Harrold said: “There won’t be a huge team there on hand. It’ll be her husband who’ll mainly be doing that, helping her to get back onto her feet.”

Royal sources have said that Kate’s return to royal duties “will depend on medical advice closer to the time.”

The princess left The London Clinic on the same day as her father-in-law, King Charles, returned home following prostate treatment.

The King is now set for a period of recuperation and has rescheduled upcoming public engagements to rest.
