Prince William made a short cameo in his latest TV project showcasing inspiring environmental solutions spotlighted and celebrated by The Earthshot Prize.

The Earthshot report, hosted by Hannah Waddingham, featured a special introduction from the Prince of Wales.


Prince William, 42, appeared only twice throughout the hour-long environmental documentary, for under two minutes in total.

The royal held a black umbrella and wore a navy jacket as he delivered a 90-second introduction monologue.

He said: “The Earthshot Prize was launched in 2021 to spotlight and support people from across the world who are coming up with ground-breaking innovations to help repair our planet.

“They are just a sample of a new wave of inventors, doers and thinkers who are enabling us to feel hope and optimism, despite the negative forecasts.

“Now, in 2024, individuals, communities, and nations are innovating like never before.

“More and more people are joining the journey to protect the future of our planet.

The Prince of Wales added: “In this film, we will catch up with previous finalists of the Earthshot Prize to discover how their ideas are scaling up, as well as exploring some of the game-changing solutions, exciting new trends and global breakthroughs of 2024.

“This is the Earthshot Report, 2024.

“Here to help tell us about the progress that’s been made and the challenges we still face, is a good friend of the Earthshot Prize and someone who isn’t shy of a challenge, Earthshot advocate and our host Hannah Waddingham.

The documentary showcased locations across the globe, from the Western United States to Ecuador, South Africa and the United Kingdom, to explore the inspiring stories of environmental innovators working to deliver solutions which aim to protect and restore our planet for future generations.

During the speech, William spoke of “championing the dreamers, the thinkers, and the innovators”.

He said: “And I now invite you to join the movement for climate innovation that’s happening around the world.

“Because that’s why we are here, to champion the dreamers, the thinkers, and the innovators from every walk of life who share an ambition to build a better, more sustainable world.

“That is why the Earthshot Prize exists.”
