Prince of Wales is in Bournemouth to meet with business leaders to discuss ways to tackle poverty

Prince William was spotted at a Pret A Manger today in Bournemouth, with star-struck customers looking on in shock.

The Prince visited the coffee shop branch as part of his campaign to end homelessness across the country.

He will meet eight representatives from both local and national firms to hear about how they plan to tackle homelessness in the area.

Homewards, his homelessness programme, is a five-year locally led scheme that aims to show that "it is possible to end homelessness making it rare, brief, and unrepeated."

The Prince met with workers at a Pret A Manger this morning to hear about their initiative to give 500 homeless people jobs within the next five years.

He met with employees who had benefited specifically from The Pret Foundation's scheme to end poverty.

William is then expected to travel to AFC Bournemouth's Vitality Stadium to speak to staff about how they will implement his charity's ethos in their work in tackling homelessness.

The club is currently running a charity initiative called the Bounce Back scheme, which has supported local vulnerable adults in achieving independent sustained living.

The Prince will also meet with representatives from retailer Lush, Sunseekers, Dorset Chamber of Commerce, and Bournemouth and Poole College.

All eight companies will meet with William for a meeting to discuss the many ways in which the business sector can help to tackle homelessness, and the help they can provide through the Homewards programme.

His visit to Bournemouth comes three months after he launched the Homewards scheme.

Bournemouth is one of the six flagship locations for Homewards.

The others are Aberdeen, Lambeth, Newport, Northern Ireland and Sheffield.

Prince William's visit to Bournemouth comes on the eve of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II's death.

The late monarch died last year on 8 September 2022 in Balmoral, Scotland.

Meanwhile, Harry has flown to back to the UK to attend the Wellchild awards in London.

He will then fly to Dusseldorf for the kick-off of the Invictus Games.
