Prince William returns to public duties with Bafta appearance as Kate continues recovery at home

William's wife, the Princess of Wales, did not attend as she continues her recovery process at home.

Princess Kate had abdominal surgery in January and spent two weeks at the London Clinic hospital following the operation.

Prince William is the President of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.

He will watch the award ceremony before meeting category winners and the Rising Star Award nominees.

Prince William was appointed the President of the British Academy of Film & Television Arts in 2010.

William's return to public duties comes after he decided to take a short break from engagements after attending the London Air Ambulance Gala on February 7.

Prince William wore a navy velvet tuxedo jacket with black lapels, paired with black trousers, a bow-tie and a white shirt.

The royal was pictured mingling with celebrities upon his arrival.

William, who is also the President of the Football Association, was pictured greeting England football legend David Beckham warmly.

The Prince of Wales usually attends the Bafta ceremony with his wife Kate.

However, the Princess of Wales is not expected to undertake any public duties until after Easter as she continues to recover at the couple's Windsor home.

Last year, Kate wore a white one-shoulder Alexander McQueen dress which she paired with black opera gloves at the Bafta ceremony.

The couple have regularly attended the A-lister event over the last decade.

They did not attend the 2022 ceremony due to diary constraints, while the 2021 edition of the awards was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
