Prince William is "appalled" by treatment towards Princess Kate amid Kensington Palace's U-turn, a source has claimed.
The Royal Family and Palace staff are understood to have rallied in defence of the Princess of Wales following false reports about changes to her fashion protocol.
"There's a huge feeling amongst not just the Royal Family but also within all the people that work for them, that Kate can do no wrong, so of course everyone is appalled that she's even being questioned over this," a source told In Touch.
Palace insiders claim the Princess is being encouraged to ignore critics and continue handling her public duties in whatever way makes her comfortable.

The unified show of support comes as Kate continues to ease back into full royal duties following her successful cancer treatment.
The controversy began with a Sunday Times report on February 1, which suggested the Palace would no longer share details about Kate's outfits during public appearances.
A Palace spokesperson had initially stated: "There is an absolute feeling that the [public work] is not about what the princess is wearing... Do we need to be officially saying what she is always wearing? No."
The Palace quickly U-turned to correct misinterpretations on February 11.
"To clarify, the comments in the article were from me, not from the Princess of Wales... To be clear there has been no change in approach to sharing information about Her Royal Highness' clothing," the spokesperson explained.
Prince William has been particularly vocal in his defence of his wife, according to Palace sources.
"William is especially incensed, he can't believe after all she's been through over the past year that anyone would dare try and make her feel bad, or like she's made some sort of protocol mistake," an insider revealed.
The Princess, who announced her cancer was in remission in January 2025, has since returned to public duties alongside William.
The 43-year-old heir apparent has been accompanying his wife at various public events and philanthropic outings as she resumes her royal responsibilities.
Palace sources emphasised Kate's exemplary adherence to royal protocol throughout her public life.
"There's literally no one in the family that's more aware of protocol and always follows it to the letter," an insider stated.
The source noted that criticism was particularly misplaced given Kate's focus on charitable work.
"This is all coming to the fore because of a desire to have more focus on the charity work she's doing," they explained.
LATEST ROYAL NEWS:
The Palace has confirmed that Kate has complete discretion regarding fashion information sharing.
"If she wants to share information about the brands and designers that she's wearing," the source added, the royal press office "will happily share that information."
"Kate's got full approval to just ignore the fuss and do as she pleases going forward," the insider confirmed.
The Princess, who has been a fashion icon since joining the Royal Family in the early 2000s, continues to receive widespread public interest in her style choices.
"If she wants to share details on what she's wearing it's her prerogative, full stop," the source concluded.
