Prince William proudly posed with an American football shirt displaying his royal title during an engagement on Tuesday.

The Prince of Wales attended a community event hosted by the NFL Foundation UK, showcasing the organisation's efforts to support young people in deprived areas through flag football.


The royal engaged with representatives from NFL UK and community partners to learn about the Foundation's impact on youth development.

The event demonstrated how the NFL Foundation UK collaborates with local organisations to create unique partnerships, using flag football as a tool to boost confidence and potential in young people.

During the engagement, William was pictured holding up an American football jersey with the number 24 and the letters HRH on it.

This HRH letters referred to William's His Royal Highness title.

The Prince of Wales held up the shirt alongside athlete Louis Rees-Zammit at the event.

Flag football, the non-contact version of American football, has seen rapid growth in the UK.

During the event, William participated in NFL Flag activities alongside young people from across the UK.

Earlier this month, William attended Villa's Champions League game against Germany's Bayern Munich.

William decided to support Aston Villa when he was growing up and previously shared an insight into going to watch them in 2000 when he was 18 years old.

The prince said: "Aston Villa’s always had a great history.

"I have got friends of mine who support Aston Villa and one of the first FA Cup games I went to was Bolton v Aston Villa back in 2000.

"Sadly, Villa went on to lose to Chelsea (in the final)."

He added: “It was fantastic, I sat with all the fans with my red beanie on, and I was sat with all the Brummie fans and had a great time.

“It was the atmosphere, the camaraderie and I really felt that there was something I could connect with."
