The Princess of Wales underwent abdominal surgery in January 2024 and is not expected to return to public duties until after Easter.

William and Kate have made multiple joint appearances at the Bafta ceremonies.

The royal couple attended last year's event but missed the 2022 event due to diary constraints.

Prince William was appointed the President of the British Academy of Film & Television Arts in 2010.

The royal's return to public duties comes after he decided to take a short break from engagements after attending the London Air Ambulance Gala on February 7.

The Prince of Wales was photographed alongside Hollywood A-lister Tom Cruise during the event.

William thanked the American actor for his support at the charity gala.

He said: "I should also take this opportunity to give a mention to my - our - fellow pilot, Tom Cruise. Tom, huge thanks for supporting us tonight."

The prince left the audience in stitches with a gag about the Mission Impossible film star destroying the charity's two helicopters.

William joked: "And Tom if you wouldn't mind not borrowing either of the new helicopters for the next Mission Impossible, it would be appreciated.

"We have all seen on our screens that - how can I put it - you seem to have a different take on 'normal wear and tear' to the rest of us. It's not the kind that buffs out."
