Prince Harry "will not be deported under Joe Biden" amid a fierce ongoing legal battle, the US ambassador claimed.

Republican frontrunner Donald Trump said the Duke of Sussex could face consequences if he is found to have lied about taking drugs on his US visa application.

US Ambassador Jane Hartley laughed off the suggestion Harry could be deported, telling Sky News: "It's not gonna happen in the Biden administration."

Harry wrote about taking cocaine, cannabis and magic mushrooms in his memoir, Spare, which prompted a conservative think-tank to sue the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to reveal the contents of his visa application.

Harry once admitted that cannabis helped heal the trauma of his mother's death.

The duke also said that by using ayahuasca, the psychedelic drug, he realised his mother wanted him to be "happy".

The Heritage Foundation claims Harry's visa documents are of "immense public interest" as they claim it could show he "lied", or it could show he "answered truthfully" and "received special treatment".

Anyone applying for a visa to live and work in America has to answer "yes" or "no" to the question: "Are you or have you ever been a drug abuser or addict?"

Acknowledgement of past drug use does not necessarily result in a visa rejection.

The Biden administration is arguing that visa applicants have a right to privacy.

But the foundation insisted Harry undermined his right to privacy in Spare by "selling every aspect of his private life".

In an exclusive interview with GB News by Nigel Farage last week, Trump said Harry should not get "special privileges".

Trump said: "We'll have to see if they know something about the drugs, and if he lied they'll have to take appropriate action."

Asked if "appropriate action" could mean "not staying in America", Trump replied: "Oh I don't know. You'll have to tell me. You just have to tell me. You would have thought they would have known this a long time ago."

Last month, Prince Harry was asked in an interview about getting US citizenship.

He told Good Morning America: "The American citizenship is a thought that has crossed my mind but certainly not something that's a high priority for me right now."
