Prince Harry's surprise visit to Ukraine proves he "no longer wants to be a spare part" to Meghan Markle, it has been claimed.

The Duke of Sussex travelled to the war-torn country to meet with victims of the conflict at the Superhumans Centre in Lviv.

Harry was joined in Ukraine by a contingent from the Invictus Games Foundation, including four veterans who have undergone similar rehabilitation experiences.

Reporting on his trip on the official Sussex website, they claimed that the Prince's visit to Superhumans was a "powerful reflection of the shared mission between the Center and the Invictus Games Foundation".

Discussing the trip on GB News, former Royal Correspondent Charles Rae claimed the move shows how the Duke no longer wants to appear as a "spare part" to his wife, and "applauded" the Prince for doing so.

Rae explained: "It's something that he wanted to do. And he took the opportunity when he was over there with his latest battle in the court case to go to Ukraine. And I think this is the thing that Harry is best known for.

"Helping soldiers who have been on the front line, and I applaud him for it, because I think it's the right thing for him to do."

Comparing his trip to the recent ventures undertaken by his wife Meghan Markle, Rae noted that it is nice to see Harry caring for a cause he is passionate about, rather than being a "spare part" to the Duchess.

Rae told GB News: "It's nice to see him do something like this than just be a spare part and walk into something Meghan's been involved in, like making jam.

"If I was making jam, it would turn out to be a disaster."

When asked by host Tom Harwood if Harry's latest move is a reminder of the Prince who was "in the warmer part of Britain's hearts" when he was taking prominence in his veteran causes, Rae agreed, stating: "I think you're absolutely right.

"You can't take any of that away no matter what has happened, what he's done, and in criticising his family.

"You cannot take away the fact that this guy served 10 years in the British Army with distinction, and the fact that he co-founded the Invictus Games, which is helping soldiers around the world."

Rae concluded: "It is brilliant, and I really do applaud him for it."

The visit to western Ukraine, an area frequently targeted by Russian missiles, was not announced until after Harry had left the country.

The Duke's visit to Ukraine came after he spent two days in a London court, appealing the Home Office's decision to remove his government-funded protection.
