The Duke of Sussex released his memoir in January 2023

Prince Harry's memoir Spare is an Amazon bestseller, however, it was not the most-read book from 2023, as five books managed to beat it.

The Duke of Sussex's autobiography broke records for being the fastest-selling non-fiction book of all time.

When Britney Spears released her memoir The Woman In Me, it failed to beat Harry's record of selling 1.6 million copies in its first week.

In comparison, the Toxic singer only sold 1.1 million copies in its first week.

Despite topping the list of Amazon bestsellers, Spare failed to become the most-read book of 2023.

The book made headlines across the world for its explosive claims about the Royal Family.

For instance, Harry claimed he got into a physical fight with his older brother over Meghan Markle, which involved the duke's necklace being torn.

After the book was published in January 2023, Harry gave several interviews to promote his new memoir.

Despite the heavy promotion, Spare only ranked number six for the most-read books on Amazon this year.

These figures are measured by the average number of daily Kindle readers and Audible listeners.

Spare was beaten by five Harry Potter books in this category, with Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix being number one.

Prince Harry's book was labelled the most traded-in biography of the year by We Buy Books.

This website “turns unwanted books into cash”, and Spare was reportedly accepted 459 times.

A spokesperson said: “We limit how many we accept in a timeframe so chances are if we’d accepted every copy, there’d have been a lot more!”

Spare detailed the 39-year-old's military career, his current relationship with the Royal Family, and his grief over the death of Princess Diana.

Prince Harry also released a 15-hour audiobook edition, which he narrated himself.
