Prince Harry “preferred not to be in the same room” as Camilla when speaking to the King about his cancer diagnosis, a source has claimed.
Petronella Wyatt, a British journalist, author and friend of Camilla’s, has revealed that the Duke of Sussex did not want the Queen to be present during his visit to Clarence House last week.
Prince Harry flew to the UK from the US last week to meet with his father for under an hour following the King’s cancer announcement.
Wyatt said: “Harry, I hear, preferred not to be in the same room with his stepmother when he spoke to the King about his cancer diagnosis.”
The prince has previously voiced his negative opinions about Camilla in his book, Spare claiming that he has “complex feelings about gaining a step-parent who I thought had recently sacrificed me on her personal PR altar.”
The prince also referred to her as “dangerous" and feared that before she married Charles she would be a “wicked stepmother.”
Speaking to The Telegraph, Wyatt described the meeting as “a massive opportunity missed” by the prince, “as olive branches go.”
Wyatt revealed that she has known Camilla since she was 18 years old and does not believe that the Queen is capable of what Harry has accused her of.

She states: “To what has sometimes been her [Camilla's] detriment, she is incapable of machinations of any kind.”
Wyatt has worked for the Sunday Telegraph as a weekly columnist and for The Spectator magazine as deputy editor.
Prince Harry has on occasion spoken up for his stepmother despite his claims in Spare.
He told The News Agents Podcast: “I don’t care what anyone says – this wasn’t any sort of end game.

Harry also praised Camilla for her positive attitude stating: “She’s 75, but you know, it’s tough to do it. But she’s never complained. You just do it. Get on with it.”
Prince Harry headed back to the US after spending just one day in the UK and without seeing the Prince or Princess of Wales.
Harry’s wife, Meghan, stayed in the US with their two children, Archie and Lilibet, during the prince’s trip.
