Prince Harry "felt nostalgic for the people he left behind" during his brief visit to the UK for his uncle's funeral, former royal correspondent Michael Cole has claimed.
The Duke of Sussex returned to the UK in secret for a memorial for Lord Robert Fellowes but is not understood to have interacted with his brother or father during his visit.
He stayed with his cousins in Norfolk, which Cole said "I'm sure is beautiful this time of year."
Speaking to GB News the former royal reporter to the BBC explained: "He went to stay with his uncle Charles Spencer, the Earl Spencer Althorp.
"Then, of course, while he was there, the anniversary of his mother's death in 1997 came around and he paid tribute at her grave.
"It was an extraordinary visit because nobody knew he was coming and suddenly he was there, having swapped teeming Los Angeles for sleepy north Norfolk."
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
"I'm quite sure that Norfolk in high summer is very beautiful, and I'm sure he has many friends and connections around there.
"I'm sure he must have been nostalgic for the life that he's left behind and the people he's left behind but regarding a reconciliation, there are two chances of that, slim and none."
Harry and William saw each other at the funeral but sources have claimed that the pair did not speak as their feud rumbles on.
Speaking about the possibility of a royal reconciliation, Cole said: "An ice cap has formed over their relationship and I can't see it melting for a very long time indeed. Last week they were together in the same building for the first time in over a year, since the Coronation.

"Prince William certainly didn't look at his brother. He didn't speak to his brother. They arrived separately, discreetly, and they left separately without a word."
He added: "Family feuds are awful by definition. One in the Royal Family is even worse."
It is also understood that Harry did not see his father, King Charles, 75, who is being treated for cancer and is staying at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.
GB News has reached out to reps of the Duke of Sussex for comment.
GB News also understands that the duke has no intention of returning to the UK and is happy in California, despite the latest claims from royal sources.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex live in the US with their two young children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
