The Duke of Sussex will return to the UK next week to attend the WellChild Awards

The chance of Prince Harry reuniting with Prince William and Princess Kate has been dashed ahead of his imminent return to the UK.

The Duke of Sussex will return to his homeland to attend the WellChild Awards, a charity which he has been patron for over 15 years.

However, Harry is expected to "not visit Kate and William" during his visit as the rift between the Sussexes and the Royal Family shows no sign of dissipating.

Speaking to GB News, former BBC Royal Correspondent Michael Cole claimed that any reconciliation between Harry and William would be an "extremely slow thaw", and chances of a meeting next week are between "slim and none".

Cole explained: "I think the two chances of that reconciliation are slim and none, to be honest with you. If it's a thaw, it's an extremely slow thaw.

"I think the chances of him meeting again with the Prince and Princess of Wales are, I would say, virtually non-existent."

Noting Prince Harry's commitment to the WellChild charity over the years, Cole highlighted how the Duke always makes an effort to be involved with the awards year on year.

Cole explained: WellChild is a project that he's been involved with for 16 years, and has been a patron for. He is really committed to it.

"He loves it and they love him. He always gets a great reception when he comes over for the awards."

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Revealing more about Prince Harry's attachment to the WellChild charity, Cole recalled the royal's "emotional breakdown" shortly after Prince Archie was born.

Cole told GB News: "In 2019, at the awards ceremony just after their son Prince Archie had been born, he really broke down emotionally.

"He broke down at the struggles of children with very, very trying and difficult conditions and how resilient they are and how wonderful the people are who support them."

Turning the discussion to the Duke's relationship with his father, King Charles, host Isabel Webster questioned whether the monarch would offer Harry a place to stay during his visit.

Cole was doubtful, responding: "Last time he was here, he stayed at a hotel, even though he was offered the freedom of Buckingham Palace if he wished to stay. The King said stay at my place, but he didn't."

Noting Prince Harry's recent milestone birthday, Cole questioned whether the King held a call with his distant son and revealed that Buckingham Palace "haven't confirmed" if the communication took place.

Cole added: "It was said at the time that he would call Harry in our afternoon, there early morning, but it was never confirmed. Normally on these occasions Buckingham Palace would confirm if there had been a video call.

"But of course the King would have been rather wary of that, because the last time there was a video call, that was leaked the next day, presumably by Prince Harry's PR people. So if it did happen, it would be interesting and it would show a renewal of trust or perhaps new conditions for when these these calls are made."
