The Royal Family sent a subtle message to Prince Harry in a touching Father's Day message.

To celebrate Father's Day on Sunday, the Royal Family's official social media accounts posted archive video footage of King Charles as a young boy with his late father, Prince Philip.

They captioned the post: "Wishing all Dads, and those who may be missing their parents today, a relaxing Father’s Day. Footage sourced from BFI National Archive."

The phrase "those who may be missing their parents" could be a subtle message to the Duke of Sussex, 39, who lives in California.

In 2020, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped back from their positions as working royals and moved to the US.

In the subsequent four years, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have publicised many details about their rift with members of the Royal Family, including the King.

Earlier this year, it was reported that the rift between Prince Harry and his father could be healing, as the duke made a swift dash across the Atlantic to meet his father after learning about his cancer diagnosis.

Harry later told Good Morning America: "I jumped on a plane and went to go see him as soon as I could.

"Look, I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that."

The duke, who declined to comment further on his father's diagnosis, added that he hopes to see Charles again soon.

He said: "I’ve got other trips planned that will take me through the UK, or back to the UK, and so I’ll stop in and see my family as much as I can."

The Royal Family's Father's Day message also showed the great bond between the King and the late Duke of Edinburgh.

The archive footage in black and white showed the young King playing with his younger sister, Princess Anne, and their father Prince Philip.

In the documentary Prince Philip: The Royal Family Remembers, Charles said the Royal Family were “lucky” to have had Philip for nearly 100 years.

Last month, King Charles became patron of his former school Gordonstoun, a role previously held by Queen Elizabeth's late husband.

Prince Philip attended the institution himself between 1934 and 1939.
