A spokesperson for Prince Harry has told GB News that the Duke of Sussex's priority is the "safety of his family" rather than a court case that gives "a continued platform to the Mail's false claims all those years ago".
It is understood the reported £750,000 in legal costs is just speculation, as the costs in the case are yet to be determined.
Prince Harry's spokesperson insists he is still willing to pay for his own police protection in the UK, as he awaits the outcome of his case against the Home Office.

The duke is understood to continue to dispute The Mail's 'honest opinion’ defence.
His spokesperson said The Mail on Sunday’s article was in the "news" section of the paper, not the "opinion" section and was presented as an "exclusive".
Earlier today, it was reported that Prince Harry had abandoned his libel case against the Mail on Sunday.
The royal was due to hand over legal documents today but instead chose to withdraw his case before a deadline for his lawyers to pass over a list of files.

Prince Harry claimed this unfairly accused him of trying to confuse the public.

However, Harry's lawyers informed the publication it had filed a notice with the court stating: "The Duke of Sussex discontinues all of this claim."
This comes as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are yet to publicly comment on the news that King Charles and the Princess of Wales will have surgery in hospital next week.
