Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will spend Valentine's Day apart after the Duchess of Sussex returned to the US on Wednesday.
The couple flew to Vancouver last Friday to attend the first-ever winter edition of the Invictus Games.
However, Meghan has opted to leave Canada and fly back to the US to be with the couple's young children Prince Archie, 5 and Princess Lilibet, 3 in California.
A source close to the couple confirmed that Meghan's departure from the Invictus Games at the halfway point was scheduled.

The insider said: "This was always planned. Meghan is going home to be with her children."
"Meghan left the games in Düsseldorf early after five days to go home. This is Prince Harry's event and she is there to support him, but this was planned," the source added.
Prince Harry, 40, will remain at the games until Sunday's closing ceremony.

Valentine's Day is a holiday when lovers express their affection with greetings and gifts which is celebrated globally.
Before her departure, the Duchess joined Prince Harry at a family-and-friends tubing event on Tuesday in Whistler, where winter sports are being held for the first time in Invictus Games history.
The event marked her final appearance at the games before leaving in the afternoon local time.
Following Meghan's departure, the Duke of Sussex presented medals for the alpine skiing event, drawing a substantial crowd despite the cold weather.

Officials kept the Duchess's travel arrangements confidential until after her departure, citing security considerations.
