Prince Harry has been left in a “tricky spot” by an unexpected boost to Meghan Markle’s political ambitions, according to a commentator.

President Biden’s sister Valerie Biden Owens is reportedly a fan of the Duchess and has “endorsed” the prospect of her running for the White House.

It comes after a host of setbacks for Meghan, which included the US President refusing to grant her and Harry access to Air Force One for a lift home after the Queen’s funeral.

Meghan has reportedly been vying for a political career after she and Harry opted to break ties with the royal establishment in 2020.

The pair stood down as working royals and moved to Montecito, California, where they have grown increasingly distant from the Royal Family while pursuing lucrative private interests such as Netflix documentaries and Spotify podcasts.

While the Duchess’ reported political ambitions have been the subject of ridicule by many, the 41-year-old may be able to take solace from having a direct line to the presidency.

Prince Harry, however, may take a slightly dimmer view of the development, according to GB News’ Emily Carver, who says Meghan’s political ambitions is not something he is keen of.

“It’s a little bit tricky. They have very different ambitions,” she told Ellie Costello and Stephen Dixon.

“Meghan Markle wants everything. She would be head of the universe if she could be.

“Harry is stuck in the past with all of his court cases going on, it’s all a little bit strange.

“Meghan Markle in the White House, now that would be something.”

Former Liberal Democrat Minister Norman Baker went on to comment on the story, first reported by the Mail, outlining what it would mean for the Duke and the new title he would bestow should Meghan take the reins in the White House.

“He would be First Gentleman, I believe”, he told GB News.

“It’s extraordinary. American politics is so unpredictable, so who knows what they would do about it.

“According to this story, she is the most popular female potential candidate ahead of Kamala Harris and Hillary Clinton.

“American politics is bonkers, but this is beyond bonkers.”

Biden’s sister backing Meghan would be a boost for the Duchess’ prospects given her successful track record.

She played a role in Biden’s successful run at the presidency and has also been previously nominated as Alternative Representative of the United States to the 71st Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations by Barack Obama.

The Sussexes’ relationship with Joe Biden has reportedly not been rosy in recent times, with the US President’s friendship with King Charles attributed as a possible reason behind the strain.
