King Charles has been left furious with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after the Sussexes embarked on a controversial trip to Nigeria.
The 75-year-old monarch, who is recovering from his cancer diagnosis, grew distant from his younger son and daughter-in-law following the couple’s decision to quit the Firm more than four years ago.
Despite visiting London on several occasions, the Sussexes relocated from the UK to California via Canada and raised eyebrows by deepening their rift with the Royal Family.
Harry and Meghan, who celebrate their sixth wedding anniversary today, embarked on a three-day tour of Nigeria after the Duke’s unofficial UK tour in celebration of the 10th edition of the Invictus Games.

The couple were invited to the country by Nigeria’s chief of defence staff – marking their first overseas tour since stepping down as senior royals in 2020.
However, royal author Tom Quinn revealed that Charles is quite angry about how Harry refuses to see the damage he has done.
Quinn told The Mirror: "King Charles is still absolutely furious at his younger son’s refusal to see how much damage he has done to the family.
"Harry knows that no one is fooled by his father’s flimsy excuses for not seeing him."

However, another royal commentator suggested Buckingham Palace believes the Sussexes will further lose public support by exposing themselves to more public scrutiny.
Kinsey Schofield told GB News: “My sources are telling me the diplomatic argument is very valid but the palace expects the Government to step in to deal with that, to shut them down.
“You kind of saw that with people coming out saying they’re not representing the UK.

Reuters“But I do not believe Prince William or the King are stewing about this trip because they know more about Harry and Meghan than we know.
“They have access to that palace bullying report and it is my understanding that they think the more the Sussexes put themselves out there the more the world will see them for who they truly are.
“And it’s, you know, a ticking time bomb. You’re going to get more of these allegations of bullying.
“Meghan is going to continue to show up late for appearances or dress inappropriately and the world will see them for who they truly are.”
