The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a deal with Netflix after stepping back from working royal duties

Netflix bosses' have vowed to stand by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry as their five-year deal with the streaming site is set to expire later this year.

The now Californian-based royals broke records on the streaming site when they released their debut documentary, Harry & Meghan, in December 2022.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will hope to impress Netflix before their £80million contract expires later this year with their upcoming show "With Love, Meghan", which stars Meghan Markle.

Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria insisted that the streaming platform remains "excited" about future projects with the royals.

Bajaria highlighted that Netflix remains committed to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's future, insisting that Meghan's new lifestyle cooking series "With Love, Meghan" will be a hit.

The eight-part lifestyle and cookery show, originally meant to air on January 15, was delayed at Meghan's request due to the devastating Californian wildfires.

When asked where Netflix "stand with that deal", Bajaria told the Mail: "We have Meghan's new show coming out, which is great.

"It is such a great take on a lifestyle show and showcase for California, Montecito and nature. It really has great takeaways. I was like 'oh my God, I want to really do that pasta.' There's really easy great takeaways on life. I am really excited about that coming out."

It is the first time a senior Netflix executive has gone on the record to confirm that the Sussexes will move forward with projects.

Speculation on the deal has risen following the Duke and Duchess's more recent projects that have failed to achieve the same reaction as their first documentary with that platform.

Ms Bajaria added that Meghan is working on a screen adaptation of the bestselling romance novel Meet Me at the Lake by Carley Fortune.

The project is in "development" and has not been greenlit for production.
