The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are neighbours with Katy Perry
Prince Harry has secured Grammy-nominated pop star Katy Perry as the headline performer for the opening ceremony of next year's Invictus Games in Vancouver.
The American singer, 40, will take to the stage at the February 2025 event, marking a significant coup for the international sporting competition for disabled military veterans.
Perry is the most prominent artist to ever perform at the games, which will be hosted across Vancouver and Whistler.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will attend the event in Canada together, continuing their joint appearances at previous games in Holland and Germany.

The Katy Perry booking comes as no surprise, given the close relationship between the popstar and the Sussexes, who are neighbours in the exclusive enclave of Montecito, California.
Perry and her partner, British actor Orlando Bloom, were among the guests at Harry and Meghan's daughter Lilibet's third birthday celebration at their £20m mansion.
The two couples' friendship was further evidenced last year when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were spotted in VIP seats alongside Celine Dion at Perry's Fireworks concert in Las Vegas.
However, Katy Perry also has ties with other members of the Royal Family and was a guest at the monarch's Coronation in May 2023.

Perry also performed at the Coronation concert the following day and was cheered on by senior members of the Royal Family including the Prince and Princess of Wales.
It was reported that the musician opted to go to the King's Coronation over attending Prince Archie's fourth birthday last year.
The Duchess of Sussex invited several high-profile people to celebrate her son's birthday which fell on the same day as the landmark event.
Prince Harry rushed back from King Charles's Coronation to make the celebration in Montecito.

LA-based author Lisa Gaché told the Telegraph in May 2023 that Perry and her fiancé Orlando Bloom were invited to Archie's birthday party.
Gaché said: "In Montecito, celebrities are royalty."
She continued: "It’s Oprah and Ellen but also Serena Williams, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, whose daughter Daisy is a year younger than Archie.
"If there’s any celebrity with a child the same age, it’s safe to assume they’ll be invited."
