The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are allegedly ‘devastated’ that their Netflix docuseries did not receive any Emmy awards, according to a royal commentator.
The 2024 Emmy Awards took place at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles last night, but Harry and Meghan were not in attendance.
In 2022, the royal couple made a controversial Netflix documentary series, Harry & Meghan, which covered their relationship with the Royal Family.
As the 2023 Emmys were postponed, many of the categories this year reflected last year’s series too.

The six-part documentary series by the Sussexes was considered for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series.
But the project failed to secure an Emmy nomination at last night’s awards.
Ingrid Seward, a royal commentator told the Mirror that Harry and Meghan were “devastated” that they were not nominated for the award.
Seward stated: “But of course [the couple] will not show it,” the editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine went on to share.
The docuseries was considered for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series Emmy award.

The viewership numbers of the show were impressive with a total of 81.6 million hours watched earning itself the title of second most viewed minutes of any documentary programme on Netflix.
But they were “obviously not good enough for an Emmy nomination” according to Seward.
Mayah Riaz, PR to Harry and Meghan outlined why the lack of a nomination having “no impact” to the stars careers.
Riaz stated: “Yes, award nominations and wins would be great but their reasons for doing the Netflix docuseries aren’t for these nominations.

The Netflix series did however receive a nomination for the Hollywood Critics Awards in the Best Streaming Nonfiction category.
The couple released the documentary in partnership with Netflix.
