The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are in Dusseldorf for the latest Invictus Games

Prince Harry has left restaurant staff delighted by making a touching gesture after his birthday meal with wife Meghan Markle.

The Duke of Sussex, who turns 39 today, was joined by the Duchess in a traditional German bar last night during their stay in Dusseldorf for the Invictus Games.

Harry reportedly washed down bratwurst sausage and wiener schnitzel with six beers.

Bar staff at the I’m Goldened Kessel restaurant revealed the Sussexes were “lovely” and left a “big tip”.

Prince Harry, who was wearing dark jeans and a grey top, was said to have looked thrilled when his birthday cake arrived at the end of the meal.

Ungerman said: “Harry and Meghan sat next to each other during the meal.

“I had goosebumps when they walked into the restaurant, I had watched his speech on the stage at the Invictus Games and couldn't believe he was in my restaurant. Prince Harry was so lovely and gave me a hug.”

“They did not dine in a private space and were in joyful spirits, toasting and laughing with the team.

Prince Harry’s trip to Germany comes as the Sussexes play a significant role in this year’s Invictus Games.

Meghan joined her husband slightly after the Duke delivered his opening speech.

The mother-of-two joined Harry at a hotel party and revealed she completed the school run before jetting off to Dusseldorf.
