Meghan personally called Shannon Keith, an animal rights attorney running the Beagle Freedom Project, specifically requesting to adopt an older dog.
The couple made an after-hours visit to meet Mia, who had recently given birth to eight puppies.
Animal lover Meghan brought her American rescue beagle Guy to the UK when she married Harry, making him the oldest of their three dogs.
The couple's black Labrador, Pula, joined the family before Archie's birth in 2019, with her name chosen as a tribute to Botswana's currency - a country significant in their early relationship.
