The King is thought to be 'too busy' now to deal with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's 'drama'

Prince Harry has missed his chance to reconcile with his father, according to a friend of the King.

A close confidant of the newly crowned monarch spoken out after the Coronation as he warned that the King would now be too busy to focus on the demands of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

However, they added that the King remained eager to reconcile with his youngest son and would never turn down the chance the mend relations.

"The opportunity that was there for Harry to sort this out with the king is gone for now," the friend told the Daily Beast.

“Of course, Charles would always welcome a reconciliation with Harry and Meghan, and his door is always open in that regard.

"But now the coronation is done, I think Charles will want to focus on the job of being king, rather than to continue being distracted by Harry and Meghan drama."

He added: "He is immensely hurt by what Harry has done in the films and books, and Harry clearly feels aggrieved too.

"So, I think a bit of distance now will suit everyone."

In a series of media interviews following the release of his memoir Spare, Harry criticised the treatment of him and his wife by the Royal Family.

He demanded the royals issue an apology to him and Meghan and said: "I would like to get my father back, I would like to have my brother back."

It had been suggested that a summit between the Sussexes and the King and Prince of Wales could take place ahead of the Coronation in order to help smooth relations, but no such meeting took place.

It is also thought there was minimal contact between Harry and his relatives at the weekend when he flew in to watch his father be anointed.

The Duke returned home to California just hours after the historic ceremony at Westminster Abbey.

He is next expected to return to the UK next month when he will take to the stand in his court case against MGN over alleged phone hacking.

No plans for a meeting between the King and Harry during the visit have been confirmed as of yet.
