Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have had "no contact" with King Charles, according to a spokesperson for the couple, after it was reported the Duke of Sussex had snubbed the monarch's 75th birthday invitation.

King Charles is turning 75 on November 14, and is having a small gathering of friends and family at Clarence House.

Prince Harry, 39, was rumoured to have been invited but chosen not to attend, although, his spokesperson has now claimed those reports were "disappointing".

They said: "In response to UK media headlines, there has been no contact regarding an invitation to His Majesty’s upcoming birthday.

"It is disappointing the Sunday Times has misreported this story," they told The Messenger.

The duke's spokesperson insisted that the Palace had "never reached out" to him or his wife, the Duchess of Sussex, 42.

Prince Harry is based in Montecito with Meghan and their two children, Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two.

He was last in the UK in September for the WellChild Awards.

During his quick visit, the royal paid his respects to his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, on the first anniversary of her death.

Harry was photographed leaving St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle, where the late monarch is buried.

The chapel is also the same spot where the duke and duchess tied the knot five years ago.

The 39-year-old said at the WellChild Awards: "As you know, I was unable to attend the awards last year as my grandmother passed away.

"As you also probably know, she would have been the first person to insist that I still come to be with you all instead of going to her.

"And that's precisely why I know, exactly one year on, she is looking down on all of us tonight, happy we're together continuing to spotlight such an incredible community."

In May, Harry attended his father's Coronation at Westminster Abbey, but immediately departed to California to celebrate his son's fourth birthday.
