In his 2022 Netflix documentary, the Duke of Sussex admitted he had 'lost a few friends'

Prince Harry lacks a "friendship group" in his adopted home of the United States, inside sources have claimed.

The Duke of Sussex, 40, was once known for his lively nights out with a close-knit group of friends in Britain.

However, Harry's social circle underwent a significant shift after marrying Meghan Markle.

In his 2022 Netflix documentary, Harry admitted he had “lost a few friends” since moving to California.

A close friend of the Duke has since claimed that Harry now regrets this fact.

"Harry regrets closing the door on this mates. He misses the boozing, the skiing, and attending rugby matches with the lads," the source claimed.

The insider continued to tell Radar Online: "He simply doesn't have that kind of friendship group in the United States and that's a shame."

However, in December 2024, Prince Harry did say he "enjoys" living in the US and plans to remain there permanently, explaining: "I very much enjoy living here and bringing my kids up here."

The Duke also said he has no plans to move back to the UK following his relocation to the US in 2020.

In addition, Harry said his life in the US, free of royal responsibilities, feels "as though it's the life my mum wanted" for him.

Former friends of the royal have spoken out about being distanced from Harry following his relationship with Meghan.

For example, comedian Jack Whitehall recently said: "I was quite good friends with Prince Harry back in the day, pre-Meghan when he was a tearaway."

When asked if he was "dropped" after Harry's marriage, Whitehall admitted: "Yeah I mean I wasn't part of his inner circle but I had a few nights out with him when he was quite fun."

The pair had previously been spotted together at the Royal Variety Performance at London's Albert Hall in 2015.

During his How To Survive The Summer Holidays tour, Whitehall's father Michael revealed the comedian's estrangement from the royal, saying: "That is your friend Harry. Except you are not allowed to see him anymore. You have been banned... ostracized from the Sussexes."

Whitehall responded by suggesting the ban stemmed from a nickname he used at the Royal Variety Performance: "I think I have been banned because I called him 'Ginger Nuts'."
