The royal opened the speech in Berlin by saying "guten abend meine damen und herren" - which translates as "good evening ladies and gentlemen".

Prince Harry thanked the prime minister of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, members of parliament and Team Germany during his speech.

The Duke of Sussex said: "Guten abend meine damen und herren. First and foremost I would like to thank Prime Minister Wüst, members of parliament, Team Germany and all those gathered here tonight for your continued support. We are just 150 days away."

Prince Harry delayed confirming whether he would attend the Coronation until last week.

On April 12, Prince Harry announced he would go to the ceremony on his own, as his wife Meghan Markle and children Archie and Lilibet remain in California.

The Duke of Sussex revealed his plan after the RSVP date of April 3 had passed.

The decision was confirmed in a statement by Buckingham Palace last week.

The Palace said: "Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that the Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on 6th May.

“The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”

Whilst Archewell, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s charitable foundation, issued a nearly identical statement to Buckingham Palace confirming the Duke of Sussex will join guests at the Coronation.

King Charles's Coronation will take place on May 6 2023, the same day as Prince Archie's fourth birthday.

Prince Harry is expected to fly straight back to California once the ceremony ends in order to be with his son on the evening of his birthday.

Omid Scobie, a friend of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, claimed that Prince Archie's birthday was considered in their decision-making.

Scobie wrote: "I understand that Archie's fourth birthday (also on May 6) played a factor in the couple's decision."
