The Princess of Wales kept her children close to her heart during a two-day visit to the Scottish Isles with Prince William on Tuesday.

Kate, 43, was spotted in the port of Tobermory on the Isle of Mull wearing two sentimental necklaces featuring her children's initials.

The Princess coordinated with her husband in a checked blazer and blue shirt, accessorising with personalised jewellery from one of her favourite designers, Daniella Draper.

The meaningful pieces served as a touching reminder of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The first necklace was Daniella Draper's £495 Gold Fixed Alphabet necklace featuring G, C and L charms, representing Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Kate paired this with a more luxurious piece from the British jeweller - the £1,300 Gold Trio Diamond Midnight Moon necklace.

This second necklace is also engraved with her three children's initials and features three sparkling diamonds.

The thoughtful accessories highlighted how the royal mother kept her young family in her thoughts during royal engagements.

The royal children had recently returned to their classrooms at Lambrook School in Berkshire following the Easter holidays.

Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, who turns ten on 2 May, and Prince Louis, who celebrated his seventh birthday last week, were back to their school routine.

The timing of the Scottish Isles visit came shortly after the children's return to school.

William and Kate had taken a break from royal duties whilst their children were on school holidays, opting to spend Easter Sunday privately at their Norfolk home, Anmer Hall.

Instead of attending the annual church service at St George's Chapel in Windsor with the King and Queen, the couple appeared to follow a precedent set by Charles when he was Prince of Wales.

Prince William was seen publicly with George when the royal father and son attended Aston Villa's Champion League quarter-final matches against Paris Saint-Germain.

The Prince of Wales represented the King at Pope Francis' funeral in Vatican City last Saturday.

He was also mobbed by fans during a visit to Mentivity, a youth club in south London, last Friday.
