The Prince and Princess of Wales have begun their Christmas celebrations with their three children following the end of the school term.

Prince William, Princess Kate, both 42, and their children - Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six - are believed to have travelled to their ten-bedroom Georgian residence, Anmer Hall, situated on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk.

The Norfolk retreat serves as a cherished getaway for the Wales family, offering them a perfect setting to unwind before joining the wider royal family for festive celebrations.

This year's Christmas holds particular significance, coming after what Prince William recently described as a "brutal" year, during which Princess Kate faced health challenges.

The Wales family is expected to join King Charles and Queen Camilla at Sandringham House, where the Royal Family traditionally marks Christmas Day.

During a recent seasonal event with the 1st Battalion Mercian Regiment in Wiltshire, Prince William shared insights into the family's Christmas plans.

Speaking to the family and friends of soldiers, William revealed there would be 45 people under one roof for Christmas at Sandringham.

"We spoke about what he was up to for Christmas and enjoying walks with his dogs at Sandringham," Leah St Clair-Lewis from the WRVS said.

Prince William also admitted he is "not ready" for Christmas yet.

"Am I ready for Christmas? No, no way am I ready," the future king revealed.

The gathering comes as part of the Royal Family's long-standing tradition of celebrating Christmas at the monarch's beloved Norfolk residence.

The Royal Family has already begun their festive celebrations, with the Wales family recently attending the Together At Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis joined their parents at the special evening, which celebrates community heroes and those making a difference locally.

The event, spearheaded by Princess Kate, marks part of her gradual return to public duties following chemotherapy treatment in the summer.

Earlier this week, Prince William attended a seasonal event for families of the 1st Battalion Mercian Regiment in his role as colonel-in-chief.

During the visit, the Prince sat down with soldiers and their families, distributing Christmas presents to children gathered around a Christmas tree.
