Prince George has delighted fans and joined his father Prince William in the royal box at the FA Cup Final.

The 10-year-old accompanied the Prince of Wales to Wembley Stadium to watch Manchester United and Manchester City compete for the FA Cup.

Prince William, who is President of the Football Association, shook hands with the team players before taking his seat alongside his son in the royal box shortly before the 3pm kick-off.

The pair appeared to be in high spirits as they took their seats and looked at the stadium.

The father and son duo watched on as United took a surprise 2-0 lead at half-time, on the back of two goals by Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo.

The pair, who are both passionate Aston Villa fans, watched their favourite team play Lille in the first leg of the Europa Conference League quarter-final last month.

George, 10, wore a Villa scarf as he applauded and smiled watching his favourite team secure a 2-1 victory.

Prince William could be seen applauding after the opening goal against Lille before turning to speak to his son.

That was Prince George's first public appearance since the Princess of Wales revealed her cancer diagnosis in March.

Today's football match comes as the Royal Family announced that they would be postponing engagements “which may appear to divert attention or distract from the election campaign”.

This is after Rishi Sunak called a snap General Election for July 4.

King Charles and Prince William had to cancel several engagements.

However, it is understood Trooping The Colour was given the green light to take place later in June.

Prince George's outing today comes as the youngster will celebrate his 11th birthday in July.

The heir-to-the-throne is widely tipped to start attending Eton Collage in September, the school Princes William and Harry attended in their youth.
