Prince William and George erupted in delight during the Champions League quarter-final.

The Prince of Wales and his son travelled to Paris to support Aston Villa in their first leg against Paris Saint-Germain.

The royals were seen jumping in the air in celebration as Morgan Rodgers put the Midlands side 1-0 up in the 35th minute.

The major European fixture is the first of two legs, with the winner earning a place in the semi-finals of the competition.

The Wales celebrations were short-lived after Desire Doue netted an equaliser for the French giants just four minutes later.

The sides ended the first half tied at 1-1.

Prince George and William were captured embracing each other in a heartwarming gesture.

After the initial celebrations, the princes shared a hug.

The fixture marks the second time George has been seen cheering on Villa.

Although the Prince of Wales is a devoted Villa supporter, he has often spoken about his wish to allow his children to choose their own teams rather than follow Villa because of him.

In what appears to be a significant U-turn, Prince George appears to be devoted to the Midlands side.

Before the game, Prince William spoke to TNT pundits explaining his decision.

He said: "I thought it's been 43 years since anything like this has happened in my generation as a Villa fan, and I want George to experience a night out away from home in a big European competition.

"I hope it's not 43 years until the next one, but I think those memories are really important.

"Bringing him along tonight is a big deal to me.

"I am generally very open to whoever they support, but obviously I am a bit biased, but also they come to the top games with Villa, they are going to probably support Villa."
