A decision concerning Prince George continues to hang in the balance, according to insiders, despite warnings from Prince Harry.

Prince George is understood to have visited Eton College as his parents, Prince William and Princess Kate, consider secondary school options for the future King.

The visit took place before the prestigious boarding school broke up for Easter holidays.

"It's the talk of the school, and of the parents," a source close to the Berkshire college told the Mail.

The 11-year-old prince, who turns 12 in July, was reportedly shown where he would stay if he followed in his father's footsteps at the £63,000-per-year institution.

The royal education decision has become a topic of significant interest. While Prince William thrived at Eton, his brother Prince Harry's experience was markedly different, creating a precedent for careful consideration.

There has been speculation that George might instead attend Marlborough College in Wiltshire, where his mother Kate and her siblings, Pippa and James, were educated.

Unlike all-male Eton, Marlborough is co-educational and charges slightly lower fees at £59,000 annually.

Sources indicate that Eton remains the preferred choice for the young prince, however. The convenience factor is significant, with the Waleses residing at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor Home Park, just a short walk from Eton.

Prince Harry wrote candidly in his memoirs, Spare, about his struggles at Eton, describing it as "heaven for brilliant boys, it could thus only be purgatory for one very unbrilliant boy."

He left with a D in A-level geography and a B in art, bypassing university for the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

Each Eton pupil lives in one of 25 houses with approximately 50 other pupils of all ages. William and Harry stayed in Manor House, which was also home to the 1st Duke of Wellington.

The Waleses have been spotted visiting several potential schools, including Highgate School in north London, which reportedly attracted Kate's interest due to its "world-class" drama department.

However, Highgate seems an unlikely choice given its distance from Windsor.

At 30 miles away, the commute across London could take up to an hour each way.

This practical consideration strengthens Eton's position as front-runner, with its convenient location allowing Prince George to remain close to the family home.

Prince George currently attends Lambrook School in the Berkshire countryside, where he has four terms remaining.

His siblings, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six, are also day pupils at the same institution.

The decision about George's secondary education comes as the family balances royal tradition with modern educational considerations.

The final decision on Prince George's education remains closely guarded.
