Emily Maitlis has admitted "people ran a mile" from her after Prince Andrew's career-ending interview.
The former BBC Newsnight presenter has reflected on the aftermath of the controversial broadcast, which examined the Duke of York's friendship with the late convicted paedophile, Jeffrey Epstein.
Maitlis's comments come ahead of a new three-part drama series, "A Very Royal Scandal", set to premiere on Amazon Prime on September 19.
The series, which stars Ruth Wilson as Maitlis and Michael Sheen as Prince Andrew, aims to dramatise the events surrounding the notorious interview.
The revelations offer a glimpse into the repercussions faced by Maitlis following what was widely described as a "car crash" interview.
Maitlis spoke at the London screening of the Prime Video drama on Monday.
The News Agents presenter revealed how it was more difficult to get interviews following the royal sit-down.
"It's a curious thing actually, on the one hand, you'd think it might make it really easy to get people to do interviews with you because they've seen your interview and they've heard of you," she said.

"And on the other hand, nobody wants to do an interview with you because they've seen your interview and they've heard of you!
"So, I think it's slightly double-edged. Some people come towards you, and some run a mile."
Maitlis added: "Prince Andrew, he lost his royal duties, he lost the ability to wear uniform, he lost the respect of the nation, and it became, I think, much more difficult for him in his place in the Royal Family."
However, she expressed uncertainty about the outcome of Epstein's victims, stating: "We don't know if their lives materially changed."

Maitlis also revealed that someone close to King Charles told her a month after the interview: "HRH was not happy with the interview."
The journalist served as an executive producer on "A Very Royal Scandal", which follows just five months after Netflix's "Scoop", another dramatisation of the infamous interview.
The 2019 Newsnight interview had significant consequences for Prince Andrew's royal status.
During the broadcast, he denied having sex with Virginia Giuffre, then 17, claiming he was at a Pizza Express in Woking on the day in question, and stressed he does not remember meeting her.

Just days after the interview aired, Prince Andrew announced he would step back from royal duties.
The damage to his reputation was substantial, leading to the loss of his public royal role.
In February 2022, nearly three years after the interview, Andrew reached an out-of-court settlement with Giuffre, with no admission of guilt, ending a civil case against him in the US.
