The Sussexes have been mired in controversy

Peter Andre believes Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would be forgiven by the British public were they to return to the country.

The Sussexes have been mired in controversy since sparking shockwaves with their decision to depart royal duties in 2020.

Opinion polls suggest their popularity has plummeted after a series of scathing attacks on fellow royals.

But Peter said on GB News that showing remorse would go a long way to curry favour once more with Britons.

“The British public are incredibly forgiving”, he asserted.

“If someone shows the right kind of remorse and someone would be willing to go ‘I’ve messed up’, they’re incredible.

LATEST ROYAL NEWS:

“I just don’t think you see that a lot.

“The British are quite annoyed at Harry at the moment. If he comes back and apologises, I do think the British public would be like that.

“That’s the beautiful thing about this country.”

The couple are reportedly gearing up for a UK relaunch and are seeking professional help to gain more positive publicity in Britain.

But according to a senior PR executive based in London, many won’t be willing to take up the offer.

“This is a s**t sandwich that many senior PR people will not be willing to eat”, they tailed MailOnline.

“Many will turn it down. Representing the couple in the UK is a tantalising thought but they don't have a reputation for listening to advice.

“What would be the point?”

The Duchess of Sussex hit headlines once more yesterday by revealing that she was cyber-bullied with Archie and Lilibet.

Speaking on his and Ellie Costello’s GB News show, Peter expressed sympathy for the Duchess and said “we should stick up” for her as she highlights the issue.

“I think in a situation like that, you have to stick up for her”, he said.

“When you’re pregnant, you’ve been thrust into a whole new world. She’s been thrust in the limelight in a whole different way.

“That would be a lot to deal with.”
