Royal broadcaster and former correspondent Michael Cole has revealed the true details of the events portrayed in The Crown, as the final season is released on Netflix.
The series, which has been widely criticised since its initial release in 2016, has come under fire again after depicting the final weeks of Princess Diana's life and her relationship with Dodi Al-Fayed.
The final instalment of the popular Netflix production will examine Dodi and Diana's relationship in their final weeks, before the fatal car crash in Paris which killed them both.
Following today's release, royal experts have warned viewers that the streaming platform has presented false events as fact.

Speaking to GB News about the series, former royal correspondent Charles Rae said he was "furious" with the latest dramatisation of events.
Rae said: "I'm furious because I've seen the first part and there is a part where she comes out to a boat, a boat that I was on - they have distorted that event out of all context."
Reacting to the series, Michael Cole joined hosts Tom Harwood and Pip Tomson to share his thoughts on the show.
Cole said the earlier seasons in the series were an "advertisement for a constitutional monarchy", and that the people of Buckingham Palace were "hugging themselves with glee" over the success.
Detailing his close relationship with both Dodi and Mohamed Al-Fayed, Cole explained why The Crown's account of events is "nonsense".
Cole explained: "It somehow suggests that Mohamed Al-Fayed, who I knew for 37 years, contrived this romance.
"At the time, Princess Diana was 36, Dodi was 42. They'd first met not that fateful summer, they met 10 years earlier. They knew each other, and they're saying that he somehow made them fall in love with each other.
"Mohamed had many talents, but I don't think he could make two adults fall in love with each other."

When asked to debunk another scene in The Crown by Pip, where the show suggests Mohamed offered Dodi a partnership in his company if he married Diana, Cole replied "it's nonsense!"
Cole continued: "I've never heard or witnessed or even heard any reference to all of that. Where on earth that's come from, I have no idea.
"Two former Prime Ministers, Blair and Major, both gave the show a good kicking and therefore it runs this health warning at the beginning, saying it is 'dramatised fiction'. Well, that's what it is. It is fiction.
"It's all very sad and all very sorrowful. I wish they hadn't done it."
