Royal author Tom Bower has given a detailed analysis of the feud between Meghan Markle and Victoria Beckham in his explosive new memoir.
In the book, he claimed that Meghan Markle was "irritated" by the Beckham's wealth and "saw herself as higher up on the pecking order".
Bower has now revealed what he thinks to be the story behind the argument.
The biography states: “In Meghan’s celebrity world, ranking depended on wealth and fame.

PA“As a seasoned operator, Meghan deluded herself that her status in the Royal family placed her above Victoria in the social pecking order.
“She was irritated to discover that the Beckhams had considerably more wealth than herself.
"They owned five homes, had constant access to private jets, invitations to sail on yachts and much more money. And she was soon to be a duchess.”
Meghan is also said to have asked Victoria if she could provide her with free clothes and handbags but this was “vetoed by the Palace for being against their rules".

Previously close, the Beckhams attended the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding at Windsor Castle in 2018.
However, David was left “absolutely furious” after he and wife Victoria were allegedly accused by the Sussexes of leaking stories, with reports suggesting that their relationship was now “over”.
In July, a source told the Mail: "Any making up now is so unlikely."

"Inexplicably, [Meghan] feared Victoria was behind it — I mean, the idea that Victoria Beckham would be personally ringing journalists to give them a scoop is ridiculous — and spoke to Harry about it.
"Harry is very protective of Meghan and decided to deal with the matter head-on, by directly contacting his good pal, David.
"He quickly put Harry right, and the two men agreed to move on — but it certainly made things awkward for a while."

ReutersLizzie Cundy, a former friend of Meghan, claimed that the Beckhams have slowly distanced themselves from the Sussexes.
Cundy said: said: "I think Victoria and David have slowly tiptoed away like the other friends.
"Many friends who went to the wedding have tiptoed away from Meghan."
She added: "These are real big family people, there’s no way Victoria would’ve leaked stories."
