Meghan Markle's latest video showed her emotional response to helping a California wildfire victim

Meghan Markle's latest Instagram video showing her emotional response to helping a California wildfire victim has "raised questions" despite her "good intentions," a former royal butler has claimed.

The Duchess of Sussex shared the candid footage on Tuesday, appearing visibly moved as she revealed how she secured signed Billie Eilish merchandise for a 15-year-old who lost everything in the Altadena fires.

Speaking to GB News, the former butler to King Charles Grant Harrold said: "I think whether you love or hate her, there's a lot of different feelings out there towards her.

"This is one of the good things she's done. She's using her position to make a slight difference to someone's life.

"I think if you're able to do that, that's amazing. To put it on Instagram makes people question why she's doing that.

"But I do think to do something like this is fantastic.

"When you've got that position that you can make a slight difference in someone's life.

"What's going on is devastating and it's awful and it's great to see celebrities trying to kind of rally around and do things like this.

"I think this is actually using her position to something good, which is fantastic."

The social media activity comes as Meghan's new Netflix series "With Love, Meghan" faces delays due to the Los Angeles fires.

Originally scheduled for January 15, the series has been postponed to March 4, with Meghan stating: "I'm thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch.

"We focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in my home state of California."

In the video that the duchess posted on her Instagram, Meghan appeared genuinely excited about being able to help the young fire victim, after a voice note she created was sent to pop star Billie Eilish.

Meghan explained that 15-year-old girl, whose home had been destroyed, was looking for a T-shirt from a Billie Eilish concert that she had just attended. She had left it in the washing machine or dryer, but when she returned to the house, those appliances were gone, as they had been damaged in the disaster.

Meghan revealed that the voice note had reached the pop star, and she had managed to get the teenager a signed shirt along with other merch.

The footage also offered a rare glimpse into her home, revealing white-washed walls, exposed wooden beams, a bronze chandelier, and wooden shutters opening to the garden.

The Duchess signed off her Instagram post with a call to action, writing: "Let's keep supporting those affected by the California wildfires.

"Thanks to everyone who made this possible but most importantly, thank you to our first responders who are the community's real heroes."
