The timing may raise eyebrows in Montecito

Prince Harry's cousins are set to launch their own rosé wine brand ahead of Meghan Markle's anticipated wine release in a fresh setback for the Duchess of Sussex.

Lady Eliza and Lady Amelia Spencer, twin daughters of Earl Spencer and nieces of Princess Diana, have announced their new venture called "Lala V".

The timing may raise eyebrows in Montecito, as Meghan is thought to be planning a rosé wine as part of her "As Ever" range of goods.

The Spencer twins appear to have stolen a march on their cousin's wife with their announcement that their own tipple will be available this summer.

Lady Amelia shared details of their upcoming brand, saying: "There's something really special in the works that Eliza and I are launching this summer."

"We've been working on a rosé brand called Lala V – it's a play on Eliza's childhood nickname Lala and the French word for life, vie," she explained.

The name carries significant meaning for the sisters.

"The brand aims to represent joie de vivre – a joyful exuberance for life. We can't wait to go on this journey together," Lady Amelia added.

The twins, who are the daughters of Earl Spencer, appear enthusiastic about their entry into the wine market.

Meghan's passion for wine is well-documented in royal circles.

Her now-defunct lifestyle website The Tig was named after one of her favourite Italian red wines, Tignanello.

The Duchess is known to favour rosé, which she was said to have enjoyed during her first date with Prince Harry in 2016 at Dean Street Townhouse in London.

She is also reported to enjoy a frosé – a frozen wine concoction blended into a slushie with strawberries and icing sugar.

This background makes her rumoured entry into the wine market a natural extension of her personal interests.

Sources have suggested that launching an alcohol brand would make commercial sense for Meghan.

Celebrity wine ventures have proven highly lucrative, outperforming other product lines such as food items.

Stars including Cameron Diaz, George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Kylie Minogue have all established successful wine ranges.

With the Spencer twins' "Lala V" set to hit shelves this summer, wine enthusiasts will soon have the opportunity to compare the cousins' competing rosés.

The timing of the launches may create an unexpected rivalry within the extended Royal Family circle.
