Meghan Markle has used her HRH title despite agreeing not to do so when stepping back from royal duties.
The revelation came during an interview with her friend Jamie Kern Lima, founder of IT Cosmetics, for a podcast on YouTube.
An image shown during the interview revealed a gift basket sent by the Duchess with an accompanying note printed on monogrammed paper that read: "With the compliments of HRH The Duchess of Sussex."
The Duchess recalled personally delivering the basket to Ms Lima after moving to California.

"I knew when I dropped off that strawberry it wasn't even preserves as it didn't have time to set I just made it quick because we had a lot of strawberries at the time," she said during the interview.
She added: "I just knew that even if we never talked about it, that it would brighten your day."

A statement released by Buckingham Palace in January 2020 clearly stated: "The Sussexes will not use their HRH titles as they are no longer working members of the Royal family."
This agreement effectively put their titles into abeyance.
The gift note to Ms Lima with "HRH The Duchess of Sussex" printed on it would be in direct contrast to this arrangement.
A source close to the couple defended the use of the title, saying they had agreed not to use their titles for commercial purposes, noting that the basket was a personal gift.

Previously, she published an image of a note from Yulia Svyrydenko, Ukraine's vice-prime minister, that addressed her as "Your Royal Highness" and apparently went uncorrected.
The note began: "Your Royal Highness, I would like to express my sincere thanks for everything your family is doing for Ukraine."
