The Duchess of Sussex celebrated her 42nd birthday on Friday

The Royal Family has remained silent on social media as Meghan Markle celebrated her 42nd birthday with husband Prince Harry on August 4.

The Firm's official X account did not send out a congratulatory message for a second consecutive year.

Prince William and Princess Kate also failed to post a message to their sister-in-law.

However, the Waleses divided opinion on social media last year when they did decide to mark the occasion.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from royal duties in 2020.

The couple jetted off to Canada and later California to bring up their children Archie and Lilibet.

Meghan celebrated her 42nd birthday with her husband at the Tre Lune restaurant in Montecito.

Photographers snapped the couple smiling and laughing after visiting the trendy Italian eatery.

The mother-of-two, who turns 42 today, wore a strapless column-style black and white Posse dress.

The dress, priced at £188, was paired with her beloved Cult Gaia bag and flat strappy black sandals.

But the Duchess decided to keep her jewellery simple for the special occasion.

This included her favorite $5,427 Cartier Love bracelet and what appeared to be her £3,736 Jennifer Meyer Gold Mini Bezel Tennis Bracelet.

Despite marking the moment in Montecito, the lack of response from the Royal Family demonstrates the fractured relationship between the Firm and the Sussexes post-Megxit.

Prince Harry added fuel to the fire earlier this year by releasing his much-anticipated memoir Spare.

The book made several allegations about leading members of the Royal Family, including against his brother William.

However, the Duke of Sussex briefly returned to the fold as he attended King Charles' Coronation for just a matter of hours.
