Meghan Markle was "rejected" by pop star Taylor Swift because she is "team Wales," royal commentator Kinsey Schofield has claimed.
The Prince of Wales took his children to the pop icons concert earlier this week and the family were invited backstage for a selfie with the star.
William was caught dad dancing at the event to one of Swift's hit songs, Shake it Off, as he appeared to be enjoying himself.
Swift has previously declined an invitation to appear on Meghan Markle's now-canceled Spotify podcast, despite the duchess reaching out to her personally.
Speaking about this to Mark Dolan, Schofield said: "I just love seeing him blissful, gleeful. This has been a really hard year for them.
"This was his a big birthday celebration and it was just great. I mean, I'm never gonna hear this song ever again and not think about Prince William."

She added: "I think that he's probably spent a few minutes with her. We know that they took a selfie. She has spent time with him previously.
"There is great video of them singing with Jon Bon Jovi at a charity event. Now, remember, Meghan Markle had requested for Taylor to be her podcast.
"She wrote her a handwritten letter and Taylor's team rejected it. Megan also later released through People magazine that she had spent some time at a Taylor Swift concert.
"So I think we are seeing our Taylor side with Team Wales here over the last few hours. Also, you know, a lot of people pointing out the pictures of Meghan and Harry at the Beyoncé concert, where Harry looks pretty miserable versus Prince William shaking his tail feather at the Taylor Swift concert.
"You're just seeing that Prince William is pursuing joy. And I think that is important."
Prince Harry and his brother William have had a strained relationship since Harry moved to the US and spoke about his family in a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.
The Sussexes have taken on multiple business ventures since their move including signing a deal with Spotify for Meghan's podcast Archetypes.

Archetypes debuted in August 2022 and featured a number of high-profile guests such Serena Williams, Mariah Carey, and Paris Hilton.
Spotify and Archewell, the Sussexes' production company, later announced they'd "mutually agreed to part ways" in a joint statement.
There have been reports that the Sussexes were not producing enough content for the audio-streaming service.
A day after the announcement, the company's head of podcast innovation and monetization called the couple "f****** grifters" on his podcast.
