Sources claim the Duchess of Sussex believes her comments on the Royal Family were 'not received in the right way'

Meghan Markle "deeply regrets" how she exited the Royal Family in 2020 and her behaviour towards the monarchy, it has been claimed.

The Duchess of Sussex has specific remorse over the "royal racist controversy", and she and Prince Harry "deeply regret" the fallout, according to sources.

The source told Grazia Magazine that the royal believes her comments "weren’t received in the way that she had expected and several of her comments have backfired".

They added: "Meghan wanted the takeaway from their Oprah interview [in 2021] to be about her mental health, and I think Meghan regretted sitting down with The Cut [in 2022] because she provided endless commentary for her critics."

Discussing the claims on GB News, Royal Biographer Angela Levin questioned the Duchess's feelings towards the situation and claimed it is "much too late" for the Sussexes to regret their decisions.

Levin told host Nana Akua: "She deeply regrets how she behaved towards the royals, and she's very sorry about saying that they were racist.

"I don't know if I believe it, but in any case, it's much too late, isn't it? Everybody's learned that that was nonsense, and it's no longer listened to."

Discussing the relationship between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and the Royal Family, Levin noted that the late Queen Elizabeth II was particularly hurt by the Sussexes in their decision to step back, and the claims made once they'd moved to America.

Levin recalled: "It was very, very cruel, and I think the Queen, when she had heard that, it was very painful for her.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

"Because the one thing the Queen wasn't was racist, in any way or any form."

Turning the discussion to the Duchess of Sussex, Angela Levin revealed that the trademark for Meghan's latest lifestyle project has "been refused".

American Riviera Orchard has reportedly been denied a trademark for Meghan by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), who warned her that businesses "cannot trademark geographical locations".

Detailing the latest blow to the Duchess's project, Levin told GB News: "Her trademark has been refused, and they think it's been very carelessly done.

"She's not allowed to use that, because it is a part of the area and she can't own an area. So it's not been accepted."

Levin continued: "You'd think that when you want to do such a big deal, you start with doing that first and then you send 50 jam jars away.

"You don't do it before you've got everything sorted with the trademark to do that."
