The Duchess of Sussex will not be present at the one year anniversary event of the Queen’s death

Meghan Markle has been given “quite the birthday present” with another royal snub, according to GB News presenter Patrick Christys.

The Duchess of Sussex will not be present at the one year anniversary event of the Queen’s death along with her husband Prince Harry, sources have claimed.

The reports emerged on the Duchess’ 42nd birthday, and represents yet another royal event where the Sussexes will not be present.

According to Christys, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry would “dilute” the event by embodying the “opposite” of what the Queen represented in a scathing attack.

“I’m glad they won’t be at the event to commemorate the dear, late Queen”, he said.

“She was a beacon of light and hope. She was classy, polite, intelligent, hard-working, devoted to duty, considered.

“Harry and Meghan were none of those things, and I’m glad King Charles did not extend an invitation to Meghan and Harry.

“It would have given them a chance to say no. After everything that has happened, the default position should be to assume they’s said no to everything from now until the end of time.

“Harry and Meghan say they will be commemorating the Queen’s passing ‘in their own way’, which will probably involve Harry fanning Meghan with a palm tree leaf while she performs some kind of dramatic reading about white privilege and colonialism, white she probably would have invited the press to, to protect their privacy.

“It is quite the birthday present for Meghan Markle.”

A source told The Sun that there has not been “any outreach” to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex regarding the event.

They said: “If they are not included in any of those plans they will find a way to mark the significance in their own way.”

The couple were spotted leaving a restaurant in Montecito, California on Wednesday night (2 August) ahead of Meghan’s birthday today (Friday 4 August).

The event, which will be held in Balmoral, falls just a day before Prince Harry is expected to be in Dusseldorf, Germany, for the 2023 Invictus Games from 9 September.

Senior royal family members including Prince Andrew are expected to be at the anniversary ceremony.

The couple have grown increasingly distant from Royal Family affairs since 2020, when they opted to step down from royal duties.

The severed ties have been compounded by a series of notable events including the release of Harry’s memoir, Spare, which took aim at Royal Family members including his brother, Prince William.

Harry was spotted at his father's Coronation in May, but his fleeting appearance saw the Duke touch down in the US within 24 hours of Charles' crowning moment.
