Meghan and Harry have been urged to stop “showing off” to gain popularity in the UK.

According to a PR guru, the couple should “tone done” their lavish lifestyles as they attempt to revive their brand.

Meghan launched a new luxury lifestyle brand called American Riviera Orchard last month and is set to launch a new podcast.

In February, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex also released their new personal website Sussex.com to document their activities.

Lynn Carratt, a public relations guru from Press Box PR, spoke about how the Duke and Duchess of Sussex can increase their popularity.

She said: “If Meghan and Harry are set on building their popularity up, there needs to be some consistency and authenticity running across their brand as a couple.

“Another successful Invictus Games will help Harry’s popularity.”

The prince is returning to the UK in May for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.

Carratt told The Daily Mirror: “They need to become more relatable to the British public, Meghan could consider toning down her use of designer labels and opting for frugal options, like Kate.

“Showing herself as a normal working mum who is facing the same challenges as others would also help.”

She also commented on how the duke and duchess are criticised “for whatever they do” so they need to “help themselves in fostering the right PR strategy.”

In January 2024, polls revealed that Meghan and Harry’s popularity has dropped in the UK.

The IPSOS study found that 47 per cent of British adults had an unfavourable opinion towards Harry, while Meghan holds a 54 per cent unfavourable rating.

Carratt went on to say that the public “often dislikes the hypocrisy of the couple showing off their privileged life” while trying to relate to those less fortunate.

She said they also use private jets while “campaigning for climate change.”

Prince Harry was recently criticised for taking a private jet to Canada for an Invictus Games event.

Carratt suggested that Meghan should “leverage the media as a platform to promote their work” instead of “giving explosive interviews about her time in the Royal Family, which might attract juicy gossip.”

Meghan and Harry criticised the Royal Family in their Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan and during their interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Carratt concluded: “They now need to be showing empathy and support to Charles and Kate through their illnesses and stop playing on their royal connections.”

Meghan and Harry did wish the princess “health and healing” after she announced her cancer diagnosis.
