Speculation has grown over what the Sussexes will do for their next project

Meghan Markle has been advised to ditch Prince Harry to “save her career” and must act now if she wants to recover what is left of her working life, one insider has claimed.

It comes after the couple suffered a huge loss last month when Meghan's Spotify contract was dumped after just one series.

Speculation has grown over what project the couple will take on next with some experts suggesting the Duchess will sign a solo deal without Harry.

“Her team have warned her that there’s ‘no future’ with Harry and that she needs to start working on her individual projects rather than being seen as one half of ‘Brand Sussex'," one insider told Closer Magazine.

“They feel that if Meghan does more on her own, she’ll have more opportunities to save her career. It will give them breathing room and restore confidence - or at least that’s the hope.”

Spotify and the couple’s company Archewell announced the end of their contract in a joint statement which was claimed to have been a “mutual agreement”.

It has been claimed that Meghan was left “distraught” after being dropped by Spotify and facing criticism from the streaming service’s top brass.

The Head of Podcast Innovation and Monetisation at Spotify, Bill Simmons branded the couple as “f***ing grifters” and suggested his involvement in initial negotiations would have avoided certain problems.

The insider claimed that Meghan: “can’t believe she’s been attacked so viciously and so publicly by one of their execs”.

They added: “It’s served as a brutal reality check that things really do need to change to save their popularity.”

The Sussexes are said to desperate to get the "green light" on new projects before they lose their deal with Netflix, according to one royal columnist.

"Meghan and her team at Archewell will continue to try to get a green light on films and TV shows from Netflix, until the deal runs out in 2025. Sources at Netflix say Archewell have proposals in for scripted content 'across the board'," Alison Boshoff wrote in the Daily Mail.

"In addition to the already reported Great Expectations-inspired spin-off, there are TV sitcoms and movie romcoms in the offing. Meghan is modelling herself on her old boss Bonnie Hammer, an executive at NBC who gave her her big break in Suits."

However, the streaming giant has denied the couple are about to lose their deal, adding the company still “deeply values” their partnership with the Duke and Duchess.

A spokesman for Netflix told Entertainment Tonight: “The bond with Archewell Productions is one we deeply value. Harry & Meghan launched as Netflix’s most spectacular documentary debut to date."
